Tutor Profile

Evan

I'm a US-based quantitative finance professional with a Master's in the Science of Finance from the University of Miami, where I completed the selective Dean's Scholars 3+1 programme, earning both my bachelor's and master's degrees in four years. I currently work as a Product Manager at a major global bank, a role that demands analytical rigour, clear communication, and precision under pressure. These are qualities I carry directly into my tutoring.

I've spent over five years tutoring students one-on-one across maths, English, and economics. I'm fluent in both English and Spanish, and all of my sessions are delivered online.

Teaching Experience

I've worked with over 30 students across a range of ages, ability levels, and goals. My experience spans core academic subjects as well as standardised test preparation for the SAT and ACT, both of which I've sat and scored in the 99th percentile on, first as a student and again as a working professional.

Typical outcomes for my test prep students include +50 to 60 points on the SAT and +2 to 3 points on the ACT, with my strongest individual results reaching +150 SAT points and +4 ACT points. Students I've worked with have gone on to earn places at universities including the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, and Emory University.

For families considering US university applications, this is a distinctive part of what I offer. I can support the core subject work that builds academic foundations while also providing expert guidance on the American standardised testing that US admissions require, a combination that's difficult to find on UK platforms.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is structured, data-driven, and built around each student's individual starting point. Every engagement begins with a diagnostic assessment to understand where the gaps actually are before building a plan, rather than guessing based on a conversation. From there, I create a tailored study plan and track progress session by session so that improvement is visible and measurable.

In practice, this means I identify weak areas early, design targeted exercises around them, and adjust the plan in real time based on what's working and what isn't. I don't teach to a generic syllabus; I teach to the student sitting in front of me. Parents receive clear updates on where marks are being gained, where they're being lost, and what we're doing about it.

I work best with students who are motivated, coachable, and willing to engage seriously with the process. I keep my roster small, typically six to eight students at a time, to maintain the level of attention that meaningful improvement requires. If you're looking for a tutor who treats every session as an opportunity to move the needle, I'd welcome the chance to work together.
