My teaching style is charismatic, friendly and positive-minded. I like to see the lighter side of what can be rather arduous subjects at times. My focus is on the ways that exam boards can present information and how somewhat straightforward questions can be made a lot more difficult and cross paths into other areas of the subject by extending past exam questions into such areas so that students are more adept at identifying how questions can be made more difficult and more aware of questions that can be a key determinant for the highest grades available.
For Maths, animations and interactive tools to "play around" with areas such as Geometry.
Learning about angles and coordinates is definitely best understood as a concept with good animations and some self-exploration for students to get a solid grasp on.
I also like to adopt a "Quality of Life" approach to Exam Technique similar to what game developers use to make their games more user friendly. This is streamlining working into something that can be applied across many parts of the syllabus as possible and in a format that can easily be checked for errors in exams where every mark matters.
For Economics, I have a strong emphasis on local examples to where the student is based so that they are familiar with Economics in action and can see for themselves how economic theory has an impact on their daily lives and the world around them. By tying this to the underpinning theory in the syllabus, they can provide more nuanced responses in exams and improve their grades.
By running my own business as a Tutor, this allows me to offer first-hand experience in what goes into pricing and differentiating my services. I am also highly aware of what role Consumers (You!) and Governments have to play in running an effective business and what I have to consider in not just a Business sense but also an Economic sense!
