Great teacher! But Not affordable for everyone

Ian tutored my daughter prior to her A Level exams in the summer of 2024. She had been predicted a B grade, but needed an A for her university offer. Ian covered content as well as exam technique with her, they also worked through past papers together and Ian on request would mark some of her written work. My daughter achieved an A☆ in economics… This was beyond her expectations, and we are extremely grateful for Ians tutoring and guidance.

Ian has been a great tutor for A level Business for my son. My son struggles academically and with concentration - Ian was able to keep his attention and also was v patient - pitching things so he could understand. A tailor made approach! Ian has been an excellent A-Level Economics tutor for my son. We started lessons at the beginning of Y12, as my son struggled with the subject and felt disheartened by his end of Year Y11 exam results. Things turned around when tutoring stared. Ian has been a great tutor for my son during the last few months of his A level Economics studies. He has real subject knowledge and a relaxed style that makes learning enjoyable. My son was given work each week to do offline, which Ian would mark, then they would review together at the next session. This worked really well and gave my son clear guidance about how to maximise marks for each question. We have not had his results as yet but are confident that his grades have been raised with Ian’s help.

I cannot recommend Ian highly enough for A level Economics. My son was in the unfortunate year that were disrupted by Covid from the second half of year 11 and through most of year 12. He was struggling with some of the course content, exam technique and confidence when he started with Ian in January of year 13. With weekly sessions with Ian, he went from an E in his mocks to a high B in his summer exam. My son found Ian's approach and methods easy to grasp and he enjoyed the sessions. Excellent - I am a tutor of another subject myself and oversee the full programme for the student concerned - so I 'sat in' to observe the session that Ian gave as a taster, and we fully intend to use him at a later date - particularly when practice and final examinations are looming. Ian stepped in at the last minute when the previous tutor was unable to continue. With only two months left before my nephew's Economics A-Levels exam, Ian gave him the final piece of confidence my nephew needed to succeed. Ian is very open to suggestions and works with his candidate's strengths and weaknesses. My nephew has now completed this exams and credits his on-going confidence to the sessions he had with Ian. Hopefully the fruits of his efforts are shown through his results.

Over the last year Ian has provide my son, Guy, with a weekly on line session to support his goal of attaining a good (A or B) grade in A level economics which, hopefully, he will achieve in August. The support provided has been truly excellent and effective, Ian is clearly at the forefront of his subject, the A level exam system and has been able to address Guys weaknesses in the subject. Its worth noting that Guy found the online delivery as effective (arguably more effective) than face to face tuition.

Ian stepped in to completely take over my son's entire AS economics teaching as my son left school (his own choice, disillusioned with the education system) during his AS year, 6 months before his exams. It was a potentially daunting task he took on brilliantly. He is friendly, organised, extremely knowledgeable and above all tailors his teaching precisely to each individual and their needs. We have obviously not got the AS results yet but would be very surprised if it as not a A or A star. Perhaps more important than the final grade itself, Ian has enthused a bright, but rather disillusioned, young person with the subject of economics. Once his least favourite A level, my son is now planning to include some economics at degree level. We cannot recommend Ian highly enough and know we were very very lucky to have him on board in such a testing situation.

Ian is tutoring my daughter in Year 2 of A level Economics. She has really benefitted from and enjoys the one to one teaching. Ian tutored my son Benji for A2 Economics revision. For about 4 weeks leading up to the A2 exams Ian supported Benji with revision and past papers practice. It turned out that Benji had a number of gaps in his knowledge so Ian covered quite lot of the syllabus in much more detail. Sessions were a combination of face-to-face and Skype which reduced the amount of driving.
