Hi, I’m Aoife, an experienced English teacher based in Dublin West with over 11 years of teaching both Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate students.

I am particularly passionate about supporting students who may lack confidence, are studying at Ordinary Level, or have additional learning needs. I pride myself on creating a calm, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy basketball, drama, and reading. These are interests that often influence my teaching style, helping me bring energy, creativity, and a love of language into every lesson.

I chose to become a teacher because I believe that every student is capable of achieving their goals with the right support and guidance. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping a student grow in confidence and realize their potential, and that is at the heart of everything I do.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a strong track record of helping students improve not only their results but also their confidence in English. As a past state exam corrector, I bring valuable insight into how exams are assessed, allowing me to give clear, practical guidance on how to achieve higher grades. My approach is professional, structured, and always tailored to the individual student’s needs and learning style.

My approach to tutoring is centred on building confidence, engagement, and genuine understanding. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and actively involved, so my lessons are conversational, interactive, and tailored to each individual’s needs. I use a mix of guided discussion, exam-focused practice, and clear, structured explanations to help students develop both their skills and their confidence in English.

I place a strong emphasis on breaking down exam questions, modelling high-quality answers, and giving practical strategies that students can apply immediately. At the same time, I keep lessons fun and engaging, using relatable examples and encouraging students to express their own ideas rather than relying on memorisation.

Each lesson typically lasts 1 hour. I offer both online sessions and in-person lessons within a 30-minute drive of Dublin 16, depending on what suits the student best.
