Hi, I'm Clare. I have a first in Physical Science from the Open University, and have over 10 years experience of tutoring both Maths and Physics up to A-level, and also Biology and Chemisty to GCSE. Ive got children of my own, now through university, so I understand the pressures imposed on children by the education system, and the importance for many students of building confidence. I have run meditation groups, and can help students with stress reduction and relaxation techniques if appropriate.

I love Physics in particular, and am a qualified teacher, but have found that I prefer teaching students one to one or in small groups. Having worked for many years as an acupuncturist, and lectured acupuncture students in pathology and physiology, I have a good knowledge of human biology.

I qualified as a teacher in 2014, and taught in a secondary school. However I found that I prefer one-to-one or small group work, and so I have been tutoring for the past 10 years.

My approach depends on the individual student and what they require. Generally the first session is an assessment for both me and them, so I can get an idea of where they are with their subject, and they can see if they think they can work with me. After that it's about finding out what they need, whether it's going over basic concepts that haven't been properly understood, extending ideas to make the subject more interesting, or coaching for specific exams.
