Hi, I'm Cipher, a passionate Humanities/Social science tutor with a background in International Relations, Politics and Media Studies. I enjoy helping students understand complex ideas in a clear, engaging and practical way. My goal is to help every student become more confident in their subject and achieve their academic goals.

I have over 10 years of tutoring experience, supporting more than 100 students at high-school and university level. I have taught and tutored subjects including International Relations, Politics, Political Science, History, Public Administration and other Humanities subjects. I have worked with students from institutions including UNISA, Wits, UJ, UP, Stellenbosch and other universities, as well as students through online tutoring platforms. My experience includes helping students prepare for examinations, understand difficult concepts, conduct research, structure assignments and improve their academic writing.

My approach is student-centred and tailored to each learner’s needs. I first identify what the student finds challenging and then break complex concepts into simple, understandable steps. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically and develop their own understanding rather than simply memorising information. For academic writing and research, I provide guidance on structure, argument development, use of evidence and clarity. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable learning, making mistakes and improving.
