Hi, I'm Nicole :)

I used to work in the asset management industry (a lot of taking complex financial concepts and explaining them simply). Nowadays, I support students in maths, I teach mindfulness, and I get involved in social impact projects wherever I can.

Maths has always come naturally to me, but what students value most is that I’m relationship focused. I aim to create comfortable learning environments to achieve results with more confidence and less stress.

Outside of work I love to travel, spend time with my nieces, and enjoy afternoon coffees!

I've been tutoring maths for 15 years now - times flies! I started as a student myself, and then stayed close to Education through my career in Finance.

Teaching and mentorship have been my main focuses over the last few years, and I have taught over 500 lessons in the past year. I’ve support students across A-Level, GCSE, KS3, international curriculums, university entry exams and vocational qualifications.

I am experienced in teaching topics, structuring practice, providing study guidance, and working in partnership with my students to meet their overall goals. I am put together tailored programmes, work with adults revisiting their qualifications, and help students that have moved countries with their school transition.

I prioritise building trusting relationships and patient encouragement so students can be more forgiving of themselves. This creates the space needed to understand their own learning and make opportunities out of mistakes.

I think about learning as a path to independence - first step is explaining for background, then demonstrating, then sharing practice together, and gradually into student-led practice. I guide students in seeing what they’re facing more clearly, finding ways to dig out of problems, and becoming more comfortable taking on increasing challenge.

This is the kind of learning that serves us for life, helping us develop the flexibility, independence and trust in ourselves that stays with us long after the current exam becomes old news.

I always aim to meet learners where they are, shuffling back if we need to, and constantly adapting so we pave our way to the goal rather than solely ticking off topics.

Learning should never feel painful or shameful - you'll see me embrace my mistakes too, and build confidence through the environment we create together. All while occasionally sharing our favourite Netflix shows or what we had for dinner last night, because who said learning should be no fun at all?
