Hi, I’m Priyaa. I’m an experienced Maths and Computer Science tutor with a PhD in Computer Science from Aberystwyth University, UK, and over 10 years of teaching, tutoring and academic support experience across UK and international education settings. I support students at all levels, from 11+ entrance exam preparation, KS3, GCSE and A-Level Mathematics through to university-level Computer Science. My Computer Science teaching covers a broad range of topics, including programming, algorithms and data structures, databases, software development, computer systems, data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. I am passionate about helping students understand difficult concepts, build confidence and make steady academic progress. I create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace. I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, whether they are preparing for an entrance examination, working towards GCSE or A-Level exams, strengthening their foundations, or developing advanced Computer Science and programming skills. I offer both online and in-person tuition from my home, depending on the student's preference.

I have over 10 years of teaching, tutoring and academic support experience, supporting students from primary school through to university level. I have UK university teaching experience as a Part-Time Foundation Year Teacher in Computer Science at Aberystwyth University. I have also supported students through academic roles including demonstrator, note-taker, exam invigilator and assessor. Previously, I worked as a Computer Science lecturer in higher education institutions in India for more than six years, teaching and supporting students from diverse academic backgrounds. I am currently an Assessor for the Oxford University Saïd Business School Online AI Programme, delivered via GetSmarter, where I assess assignments using structured assessment criteria and provide detailed academic feedback. I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE) and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), reflecting my commitment to high-quality teaching and student learning.

My approach is student-centred and supportive, focusing on building a strong understanding of concepts, developing problem-solving skills, and helping students gain the confidence to apply what they have learned independently. I first identify each student's current level, strengths, and areas where they may need additional support. I then break down complex topics into manageable, step-by-step explanations, using worked examples, guided practice, and targeted questions to reinforce understanding. For 11+ preparation, I focus on strengthening mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, accuracy, and confidence through age-appropriate practice and exam-style questions. For GCSE and A-Level students, I place particular emphasis on exam technique, applying concepts to different types of questions, identifying common mistakes, and developing confidence with exam-style problems. For Computer Science and programming students, I encourage practical learning through coding exercises, problem-solving activities, and real-world examples. I can support students with programming, databases, data structures, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, including languages such as Python, C++, and C#. My goal is not only to help students improve their academic performance, but also to develop their confidence, problem-solving abilities, and independence as learners. I want students to understand why something works, rather than simply learning what to do.
