Hi There, my name is Laura and I am as passionate about teaching now as I was when I started in 2000. It wasn't my first career as I started out working as a dispenser in community pharmacy, but teaching is my passion. I love fitness, skydiving, karate, animals, being outdoors and have two children!

I have been teaching since 2000 and have taught all three sciences to higher GCSE level and both physics and chemistry to A level. I have worked in secondary schools from 500 to 1500 students and have also run outreach projects with primary school children. I also run afterschool science clubs at a local primary school. I started tutoring when my daughter was born as teaching in schools didn't fit around childcare. I have been doing supply work over the past few years but prefer to tutor!

It is essential to build rapport with a new student and to understand their needs and wishes. I use a variety of teaching techniques, practical work and exam practice. Much depends on the way the student learns and their specific needs. I have a wealth of experience working with SEND students (including my own daughter) and can adapt my teaching to ensure that students understand the work that we are doing. I teach exam technique too, which students find really helpful coming up to the exams. I am always happy to provide feedback to parents and advise on appropriate texts, websites or exam materials.
