I am an English Tutor with extensive experience at primary, secondary, GCSE, A level and beyond.

I work with all abilities and levels on comprehension, descriptive and narrative writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar, verbal reasoning, persuasive and directed writing, literary analysis of prose, plays and poetry, essay structuring and writing and exam techniques.

Most of my work comes from referrals and word of mouth.

I have over 15 years of experience as a private tutor in both schools and in a one-to-one setting outside of school. I have worked extensively in intervention within secondary schools and am therefore experienced in working with a range of abilities and difficulties.

My recent GCSE students have achieved a minimum of grade 7. My recent A-level students have achieved grades A/A*. My students usually increase their grades by a minimum of 2 levels within one academic year.

I have a BA Hons Degree in English Literature from the University of London.

Tutoring session are very much student led but for example, for A level and GCSE we often spend a lot of time analysing texts and closer to the exams we focus on essay writing and techniques.

Many students send me work they have produced in between tuition sessions. I go over this extensively and give them feedback during sessions or by email. This is key to maximising grades in my experience.

I am happy to set work if requested which I write myself, specifically targeting each student's learning objectives and targets or I can provide links to exam board material.

I can also provide students with resources written by myself for revision purposes.
