I could not have asked for a better tutor throughout my A Levels. He's been instrumental in helping me shape my personal statement, coursework, and exam structure, which ultimately led to me securing 5/5 UCAS offers. What I really appreciated was how approachable, responsive and flexible he is. Sessions were always relaxed, and he explained things in a way that made even difficult topics feel manageable. His guidance really boosted both my confidence and my results. As an Upper Sixth student, I'd definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their grades and maximise their ces of getting into good universities.
I have been working with Matthew for sixth months and already seeing great results. Matthew is an extraordinary tutor with a passion for his subject, combined with an incisive mind and excellent critical thinking skills. He brings enthusiasm and energy to every tutorial session, coupled with a wide-ranging knowledge of history and insights into how to research, plan and draft an essay at degree level. He has been very helpful in explaining how to decipher feedback on essays, how to research effectively and how to take notes and organise research into a coherent argument. He is highly qualified and extremely intelligent, yet delivers sessions with a sense of humour and patience. He sets high standards and enables you to work towards achieving them, and is generous with feedback and guidance. Matthew is super smart, personable, punctual and reliable and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Simply superb! Matthew is professional, inspiring and empathetic. He is tutoring our son for French and English A Level and despite our son’s challenging is having a significant impact. Highly recommend.
Matthew is a highly competent and inspirational tutor, providing well organised and thorough lessons in a patient and encouraging manner. He successfully guided our daughter through the Cambridge application process, preparing her for the admissions test and the interview. His regular constructive feedback was invaluable and we are very grateful to Matthew for all his care and attention. We would highly recommend him as a tutor.
I cannot praise and recommend Matthew enough! My daughter just missed her Oxford History offer last year and against school advice did not take up her reserve university place, but chose to reapply and take the HAT exam again. With Matthew’s tutoring sessions for both the exam and interview she achieved a high mark in the HAT exam and received another offer to read History at Oxford! Thank you so much!
Matthew tutor my daughter for A level history and her experience was excellent. Completely on top of the syllabus and exceptional input particularly in exam preparation as she was weak in that area.
My A-level English Literature grade improved dramatically thanks to Matthew's expertise and patience. He will help you thoroughly comprehend the subject at its core and he is incredibly resourceful and organised—everything you want in a tutor. His lessons were really enjoyable and I always looked forward to them. His dedication is stellar!! Would highly recommend - thank you Matthew!
We are very grateful to have encountered Matthew: he rapidly understood and tackled our son’s weaknesses. He took great care to give me extensive feedback and generously drew from his copious knowledge to assist Henry in every way.
Matthew prepared our daughter for the Oxford History admissions test and interview in which she was successful. He is an outstanding and rigorous tutor with high expectations of himself and his students. His lessons focused on developing methodologies for historical analysis, critical thinking and structuring of written ideas. His tutorials are challenging, his feedback robust and the progress your child will make demonstrable. He is a passionate historian with wide ranging and deep knowledge.
We contacted Matthew to help our son prepare for the HAT for Oxford University and we were not disappointed. Matthew has extensive knowledge of what is required for the HAT as well as what History tutors at Oxford are looking for. He reviewed my son’s Personal Statement and also had mock interviews, when he got to that stage. My son has today received an offer to study History at Oxford and the first person he told after us (his parents) as Matthew, to quote my son, “I thanked him because although he was strict he was incredibly helpful”. So - thanks Matthew from all of us.
Mathew was a fantastic tutor. He has an incredibly extensive and deep knowledge on pretty much all there is to know. This knowledge, and excellent teaching, allowed me to not only achieve my desired grade , but also created a deeper understanding of the subject, beyond just the curriculum. Thus, as a tutor, he does everything you would want, and more.
we are lucky to have found Matthew to coach my daughter for her history A level. He’s definitely competent and knowledgeable, I think he deserves higher hourly wage.
Matthew provided invaluable advice and practise to our daughter in preparing for the HAT and interview at Oxford. Matthew helped our daughter to develop and finesse nuanced points and coached her on how to improve her answers and performance. Our daughter was offered a place and we’re very grateful to Matthew for his excellent support.
Our daughter is an international student studying for entry into the UK University system, and had struggled to get the necessary scores to meet her offer in the June series exams. Matthew came into the situation with only two months to prepare her for the November series, and successfully helped her get to where she needed to be to meet her offer requirements and gain admission. Matthew is an amazing tutor and helped not only to build the knowledge and skills necessary, but also helped her to build up confidence in her own abilities. Matthew is an incredibly kind and patient tutor but is also completely willing to push his students to their full capability. Our daughter was able to move up two grades in the exams he tutored her on. In addition to A levels, Matthew tutored for the Oxford HAT and interview, and our daughter was able to sit for two interviews in the Oxford admissions process. We would highly recommend Matthew as a tutor for A Levels and Oxford entrance exams, and as a teacher overall.
Matthew is a very knowledgeable Tutor for the subjects he teaches. He is friendly and flexible to fulfill the tuition demand. He is also very responsible to his student. Matthew can give a strong support for the Oxbridge application preparation. Strong recommend him to anyone needs help on Oxbridge application.
If you're looking for support on preparation for Oxford, definitely reach out to Matthew.
Matthew’s great work in the last 12 months has been critical in enabling my son to be qualified and admitted to a place in one of the top UK universities. Under the steering, supervision and encouragement of Matthew, my son has made serious effort and concrete improvement on the structured understanding of the A level subject through regular homework-based excellent learning methodology and examination tactics. In addition to the academic tutoring, Matthew’s has been instrumental in helping us screening and navigating through the university application process so that sensible and realistic choice decisions can be made. I have no reservation in recommending Matthew as a great academic tutor and life mentor to any students who want to make a difference and/or parents who want their kid(s) to excel.
Matthew has been of indispensable help to me both in my studies in History and my University Application Process. We had devised a long-term plan in our first lesson and he subsequently always came to lessons prepared with points of action. This was especially evident prior to a University admission interview, when he conducted highly realistic mock interviews that boosted my confidence and enabled me to verbally articulate my arguments much more effectively than before. Furthermore, Matthew's method of structuring essays was extremely useful in my final History exam, as I was able to concentrate on the content of my answer after repeated essay practices with him made the structure almost intuitive for me. Overall, Matthew is a very pleasant person who seeks to establish a personal relationship with his students and demonstrates a wide range of knowledge even outside of his area of expertise, thus making discussions with him both highly enjoyable and illuminating. He promptly responded to all of my queries and doubts over text outside of our lesson time, and I could not recommend him enough to anyone who wishes to improve their academic skills or develop their interest in a particular subject area.
