Hi there. I’m Claire, an experienced qualified teacher offering private French and Spanish tuition for students up to GCSE level. I have a strong background in education, leadership and coaching and particularly enjoy helping young people develop confidence in their language skills and achieve their potential.

I understand the pressures of GCSE study and aim to make language learning accessible, enjoyable and purposeful, whether a student is aiming for a top grade, needs some additional support or simply wants to feel more confident in lessons.

I am a qualified secondary school teacher with extensive experience working with young people, including several years in secondary education. Alongside classroom teaching, I have held pastoral and leadership responsibilities, including Head of Year 10 and Year 11 and Head of Key Stage 4.

This experience has given me a strong understanding of GCSE expectations, the challenges students can face during Years 10 and 11, and the importance of adapting teaching to the needs and learning style of the individual student.

My wider professional background includes executive coaching and mentoring, which strongly influences the supportive and encouraging way I work with young people.

My tutoring is tailored to the individual. I start by identifying a student’s strengths, areas for development and level of confidence, and then focus sessions on the areas where they will make the greatest difference.

For GCSE students, this can include speaking and pronunciation, listening and reading comprehension, vocabulary development, grammar, translation and written work, as well as focused preparation for examinations.

I aim to create a relaxed environment in which students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and practising their spoken French or Spanish. I combine clear teaching and structured GCSE preparation with encouragement and confidence-building, helping students become increasingly independent and assured in their language learning.
