Hello, my name is Alan. I have been a full time teacher for over 20 years. I have extensive teaching and classroom experience, in both state and independent sectors. I live and work in East Sussex. I am in my early 50's, married and have two teenage children. I am an experienced teacher from 11-18 year olds. Having been a teacher for over 20 years I have prepared and delivered thousands of lessons and taught hundreds of students.

I am passionate about teaching and love learning. Seeing students succeed is the best part of my job. I am a great teacher of the many classes that I have taught with a strong track record of achieving excellent results, but I am even better when tutoring 1 to 1. I can offer a bespoke tutoring service, tailor made to your needs. I am familiar with all GCSE and A’Level specifications for English, English Literature and Media Studies. I have also taught AS and A2 Film Studies and several BTEC Creative Media Production Level 3 Units. I am also familiar with Functional Skills English. Recently, I have worked in a small FE college, as well as working in schools as an English Intervention tutor. I am experienced in using Google Drive as a learning and teaching resource, so I tutor live online as well. I have worked for an exam board as both a coursework moderator for GCSE Media and examiner for GCSE English Language for many years.

I am patient, a quick learner, fast to understand what a student needs to do to make progress. I am flexible, happy to find the best way possible for you to understand, progress and excel. From 24 years full time teaching I have an innate understanding that one size does not fit all. All learners are different. I have delivered the Edexcel 9-1 English and English Literature GCSE's, but also have plenty of experience of specifications for AQA, OCR and Cambridge International. I have taught lots of GCSE Media Studies and A'Level Media Studies too. Regardless of whether you are an ambitious academic pushing for GCSE grade 9 or a student struggling to achieve your potential, I will be able to work with you to put together a programme to support you. I can guide and tutor for coursework as well as exam preparation. I have also guided many A'Level students through the UCAS process.
