I hold a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Chemistry as well as a BMBS in Medicine. I am also a medical doctor and work as a lecturer in medicine, bringing together a strong academic background in the sciences with experience in clinical practice and university teaching.

I enjoy teaching chemistry at all levels, particularly helping students understand concepts they have previously found difficult. My aim is to make the subject accessible while developing the depth of understanding needed for further study and examinations.

Teaching Experience

I have 12 years of experience as a private tutor, with a particular focus on GAMSAT preparation and university-level chemistry. I previously lectured at Trinity College Dublin and currently lecture in medicine at the University of Limerick.

A central focus of my tutoring is helping students succeed in the GAMSAT by developing their understanding of chemistry alongside the scientific reasoning and problem-solving skills the examination demands. At university level, I support students in understanding challenging course material, addressing gaps in foundational knowledge and preparing effectively for examinations.

With a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Chemistry, I bring substantial subject expertise and teaching experience to my lessons, adapting explanations to students with a wide range of academic backgrounds.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is patient, supportive and led by what you need. We start by talking about what you find difficult and what you want to achieve, whether that means getting comfortable with the basics, working through university material or preparing for the GAMSAT.

I break topics down into manageable steps, using clear explanations, examples and analogies to help things make sense. There is always room to ask questions or revisit something. You do not need to understand everything the first time.

We work through questions together, discussing how to approach them and what to do when you get stuck. I want you to leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of the topic and greater confidence in your ability to tackle questions independently.

The best tutor I’ve had! Christopher is excellent at explaining even the most difficult topics, and is always patient enough to explain something multiple times (I tend to forget quite a lot!). Christopher might be a bit pricier than some other tutors on here but it’s absolutely worth every euro for the quality of education received. I would recommend Christopher to anyone struggling with Physics or Chemistry!

Christopher is an EXCELLENT tutor. His love for teaching and his expertise in chemistry really shine through at every lesson. I love his analogies and his ability to make the lessons fun and enjoyable. After a few hit and miss past experiences, I was a bit nervous approaching tutoring but I have really relaxed into it now which is a testament to how personable and professional Christopher is. I found his method of relating certain concepts to things you have an interest in really helped with overall understanding of an abstract topic. Christopher is extremely patient and is always happy to work at your pace and go back over things as many times as needed. He also made me think about my own abilities and the reason why I might have struggled to grasp certain concepts initially and he was absolutely correct. My confidence has definitely increased since starting the lessons and never before has a chemistry exam felt so doable. Christopher is also happy to answer questions or look at topics between lessons-in fact he encourages you to contact him with questions. Christopher is without a doubt the best tutor I've ever had-worth every euro. I would highly recommend him (10 stars!). I hope he decides to teach for many years to come!
