Private Biology and Chemistry Tutor

I am an experienced online tutor with a First-Class degree in Medical Biosciences from Imperial College London and an MSc in Business Management from UCL, awarded with Merit. Before university, I attended Charterhouse as an Academic/Foundation Scholar and achieved eight A* grades at iGCSE, followed by D3 grades in Pre-U Chemistry, Mathematics and Latin and an A in International A Level Biology.

Having studied in both international and British schools, I understand the challenges pupils can face when moving between education systems or preparing for competitive British-school entrance and scholarship examinations. I also benefited from tutoring throughout my own school years, which showed me how much difference the right explanation, encouragement and structure can make.

I tutor Mathematics and the sciences, with particular experience supporting international pupils preparing for entrance examinations, academic scholarships, GCSEs and iGCSEs. My aim is to help each pupil become more confident, accurate and independent in their work.

Teaching Experience

I have delivered more than 600 hours of one-to-one teaching to international pupils, primarily in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. My experience includes supporting pupils preparing for competitive school entrance examinations and academic scholarships, as well as GCSE and iGCSE study.

I have worked with around ten international pupils from a range of educational backgrounds, including pupils adapting to the British curriculum. Two pupils I supported later secured places at Radley College. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the academic expectations pupils face and the individual support they may need to meet them.

Parents have particularly valued my detailed lesson reports. These explain what was covered, how their child performed, where gaps remain and what should be prioritised before the next lesson. This gives parents a clear view of progress while helping pupils take greater responsibility for their learning.

Tutoring Approach

I begin by identifying the pupil’s current understanding rather than assuming that every difficulty starts with the topic being taught. A mistake in an advanced question often comes from a small gap in an earlier concept, so I use targeted questions to find the source of the problem before addressing it step by step.

Once the foundations are secure, I help pupils apply their knowledge through carefully chosen questions. I teach them how to interpret unfamiliar problems, organise their working and check their answers, rather than relying on memorised methods alone. For examination preparation, we also work on timing, accuracy, question interpretation and the specific demands of the relevant curriculum or exam board.

My lessons are calm, structured and adapted to the individual pupil. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while still being challenged to think independently. Each lesson ends with clear priorities for revision or practice, supported by a written summary so that both the pupil and parent know what comes next.
