Tutor Profile

NAUMAN

Private Physics and Computer Science Tutor in Chatham

I'm a Research and Instrumentation Engineer and fMRI Paradigm Developer at the Centre for Neuroimaging Sciences, King`s College London, where I work on FPGA-based data acquisition, RF coil development, MR-safe device design, and EEG/fMRI instrumentation. I hold a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Brunel University and an MSc in Electronics Engineering from Lund University, and I bring over five years of university-level lecturing experience from Pakistan before moving into research engineering in the UK.

I tutor across Physics, Mathematics, and Engineering - covering Electrical, Electronics, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering, as well as Computer Science - from A-Level through to undergraduate and postgraduate level. My own work sits right at the intersection of these subjects (signal processing, embedded systems, circuit design, programming, and applied maths), so I can connect the theory students are learning to how it`s actually used in real engineering and research.

Teaching Experience

My teaching approach is built on bridging theory with practical application - I don't just explain concepts, I show students how to build, test, and troubleshoot them. Across a decade of teaching in Pakistan, Sweden, and the UK, I've consistently used project-based and problem-based learning: designing and building working circuits, redesigning lab work around current FPGA/embedded practice, and giving students real design challenges rather than isolated exercises. I place a lot of weight on clear expectations and iterative feedback - detailed rubrics, regular check-ins, and short recurring quizzes to reinforce key ideas - an approach that measurably improved student performance in my Electronics courses. I adapt explanations to how each student learns best, and I'm comfortable working with students from very different educational backgrounds. I consistently received 90%+ student satisfaction scores in my university teaching, and I was recognised with Kings College Londons Mentor of the Year award (apprenticeship category) for my mentoring work.

Tutoring Approach

I've supported students remotely on technical coursework and project work, including embedded systems and IoT projects (Arduino/ESP32-based designs) and software architecture assignments, working through problems interactively via video call and screen-share - walking through circuit diagrams, code, datasheets, and calculations in real time rather than just marking work after the fact. I`m comfortable using shared whiteboards, code editors, and simulation tools during sessions, and adapting pace and depth to whether a student needs conceptual grounding or exam-focused problem drilling.

My son had a number of online sessions with Nauman in the weeks before his exam in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. It was a subject my son had been struggling with at university during his foundation year. Nauman was flexible with lesson times, prepared well, and would respond to questions Luke texted between lessons. He was an excellent tutor and was able to explain some difficult subjects well. We are still waiting exam results, but Luke is optimistic, and doesn’t feel he could have done it without Nauman’s help. We would strongly recommend Nauman to other students.

Tutor response

Thank you Jackie!

Nauman was a fantastic tutor for my digital systems design module (final year bachelors BEng EEE). His teaching was high quality and he delivered the sessions and course material well throughout. He was flexible with his timetable and also provided much support remotely via email, text and on the phone. I would thoroughly recommend him to anyone.

Tutor response

Thank you Toby, you had been an amazing learner. I wish you good luck for your Master's degree.
