I am a current Head of Sociology and Criminology at one of the UK’s top-performing non-selective comprehensive schools. I specialise in AQA A-Level Sociology and WJEC Criminology, with a strong track record of helping students achieve top grades and improve confidence in essay writing and exam technique.

Experienced Head of Sociology and Criminology with over 6 years of teaching experience at one of the UK’s top-performing non-selective comprehensive schools (ranked 5th nationally in 2025). Currently leading both departments, alongside teaching AQA A-Level Sociology and WJEC Level 3 Criminology.

Previously built and led the Criminology department from its inception, developing curricula, resources, assessments, and intervention strategies to support strong student progress and outcomes. Extensive experience teaching exam technique, essay writing, revision strategies, and supporting students across a range of abilities to achieve their target grades.

My tutoring approach focuses heavily on exam skills, essay structure, and the application of sociological and criminological knowledge to exam questions. I help students develop clear, analytical writing, improve evaluation skills, and understand exactly what examiners are looking for in high-level responses.

Sessions are tailored to each student’s needs, whether that is building confidence with subject knowledge, improving timed essays, mastering exam technique, or pushing top students towards A/A* grades. I also place strong emphasis on using contemporary examples and developing effective revision strategies that students can apply independently outside of sessions.
