Hello, I’m Harry, a qualified and experienced secondary science teacher with 9 years of classroom teaching experience. I specialise in Physics, teaching it through to A Level, while also teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to GCSE level.
Throughout my teaching career, I have developed a strong belief that every pupil has the ability to make progress and reach their full potential. My role as a tutor is not simply to help students learn content, but to help them become more confident, independent and resilient learners.
My lessons are structured around clear explanations, questioning, retrieval of prior knowledge, worked examples and guided practice, followed by opportunities for students to apply their understanding independently. I regularly check for understanding and identify misconceptions so that they can be addressed before they become embedded. Where appropriate, I use exam-style questions to develop both subject knowledge and the ability to apply that knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.
I place a particular emphasis on developing genuine understanding rather than encouraging students simply to memorise answers. In Science, this means helping pupils understand the underlying concepts, make connections between different areas of the curriculum and develop the mathematical and problem-solving skills needed to succeed in examinations.
Whether you are looking for support with GCSE Combined Science, GCSE Biology, Chemistry or Physics, or A Level Physics, I can tailor sessions to suit your needs. This could include building confidence in a particular topic, addressing gaps in knowledge, preparing for upcoming assessments, developing exam technique, or providing structured support throughout the academic year.
Most importantly, I want students to feel that Science is something they can succeed at. With the right explanations, practice and encouragement, I believe every student can make meaningful progress
