Tutor Profile

Jessica

Private Biology and Chemistry Tutor in Wilmslow

Hello! I’m a fully qualified Science teacher with over 10 years of classroom teaching experience, and a degree in Biomedicine.

I’m passionate about helping students develop both their understanding and confidence in Science.

Throughout my career, I’ve taught students of a wide range of abilities and have a strong understanding of what students need to succeed in their exams. I’m also an experienced examiner, which gives me valuable insight into exam questions, mark schemes and what examiners are looking for in students’ answers.

Whether a student needs help building their confidence, catching up on difficult topics, preparing for exams or pushing themselves towards the highest grades, I tailor my lessons to their individual needs and goals.

Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling that Science is something they can understand and succeed in.

Teaching Experience

I have over ten years of experience working at a range of different schools.

I have experience teaching all three sciences to KS3 and KS4 level (including triple science) and have taught A level Biology.

I have also examined for both major exam boards for a number of years, so truly understand what examiners are looking for.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is relaxed, friendly and centred around the individual student. I like to create an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while building their confidence along the way. I also try to relate what we’re learning to the world around us and to things they’re interested in, as I find this makes subjects feel more memorable, enjoyable and easier to understand.

Jessica has tutored our daughter for the last 6 months ahead of her sitting her GCSE’s. Jessica’s tutoring has been brilliant, resulting in a massive increase in my daughter’s confidence prior to sitting her exams. Jessica is very knowledgeable of the curriculum and her teaching style and the learning resources she shared are excellent. I would 100% recommend Jessica as a tutor.

A big thank you to Jessica for tutoring my daughter with some booster sessions for an upcoming exam. I felt that Jessica was able to tailor the sessions to my daughter’s style of learning. Jessica gave feedback to myself on how the sessions were and delivered the content very well.
