Tutor Profile

Chloe

Private Chemistry Tutor in Leeds

I am a fully qualified secondary school science teacher with a specialism in Chemistry. I have over 10 years experience teaching and a track record of success with improving exam results. I have experience in primary and secondary school settings and have taught adults too.

My teaching centres around inspiring an interest for the subject, and building the confidence of my students to be interested and active science learners. Combining this with my depth of knowledge of curriculum and exam content gives students a full toolkit for self motivated success.

In addition to classroom teaching and private tutoring, I have worked as an interventionist in schools to create targeted, precise catch-up and revision programs for students with proven results

I have a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Liverpool, but equally important, a characteristic ability to build rapport with students.

I also have a full UK DBS and extensive safeguarding training

Tutoring Approach

As a teacher, I understand the importance of structuring lessons to maximise understanding. I teach in a methodological manner, assessing previous learning and understanding before introducing any new or difficult concepts.

During observed teaching, my adaptability has been frequently commended, I have a distinct ability to quickly recognise when students are lost, and my depth of subject knowledge and creative mind means I can find alternative explanations on the spot.

Building confidence is also key, and I tailor my lessons to enable students to always find success no matter their level. Inspiring a love for the subject and intrinsic motivation are important factors on the road to success, and will improve the student’s outcomes across all their studies.

Exam technique is vital, and weaving in not just exam questions, but model answers and mark scheme analysis means the eventual end point of the tutoring will remain present throughout their learning.

Ultimately, my lessons are a safe space for students’ growth, allowing them opportunity to ask questions and take time that is often not available in a classroom setting. The lessons are tailored with the student in mind, so they can build confidence and succeed.
