Hi! I am a retired maths teacher living in the Brixham area of Devon. My relevant educational background is a GTP in Mathematics through Exeter University and a Civil Engineering degree (Bsc from Manchester University). I have now retired from full time teaching and focus purely on private tuition. I am married (my wife is also retired and was a nurse all her working life) and we have two sons, one is an Occupational Therapist and the other is an IT specialist working in the Netherlands. I am a keen sailor but also enjoy walking, cycling and fixing anything that breaks, except computers!

I have taught mathematics in secondary schools since 2005 and also privately since 2007. During this time I found that one to one tuition both in schools and privately was the most effective and rewarding. For this reason I have since 2011, focused entirely on private tuition at both lower school level (Key Stage 3) and GCSE (Foundation and Higher levels) with most exam boards.

My students enjoy my informal style of teaching and really get a big boost in confidence from their lessons with me, particularly if they are preparing for examinations. Examination technique and practice is a key area of focus. The feedback I get from my students (and their parents) is that they enjoy and look forward to their maths lessons and gain confidence in the subject. My students either come to my house in Brixham or Online tuition is also available.
