After graduating, I began working in primary schools and later set up a business tutoring French to adults in Glasgow. These lessons were based around conversation and I used my expertise of the language to deliver mini grammar lessons as we went. I received excellent feedback from my pupils and I enjoyed creating lessons tailored to their learning styles.
I then decided to get my secondary languages PGCE, and received a distinction from the University of Sussex, where, alongside teaching, I wrote a thesis exploring the benefits of using culture and music in the classroom. I became well versed in key pedagogical theories and how to apply them.
I have since been working in schools in Brighton, teaching French and Spanish to GCSE. I am dedicated to my students and make sure not a second is wasted. For the younger years I aim to incite curiosity and engaged learners through a wide range of quick-paced activities and dynamic resources.
For the GCSE years, everything is considered and intentional as I endeavour to get my pupils the best results they possibly can. I have developed strong knowledge of the GCSE exam: its format and components, marking criteria, and essential exam techniques.
