Qualified Teacher | Small Group Specialist

Hi. 👋 I'm Nicoletta, a qualified French and Spanish teacher and former Head of Spanish. After 8 fantastic years of teaching in both state and independent boarding schools in the UK, I've recently gone self-employed and have started my own tuition business, LinguaLab. I now teach exclusively online, offering weekly, small group sessions for KS3, GCSE, and A-Level students for either French or Spanish.

LinguaLab is designed for students who need more than a worksheet, a textbook or generic revision advice. It is for students who benefit from expert teaching, clear structure, regular accountability and a supportive group environment.

Classes are kept to a maximum of eight students. Small enough for every learner to get real attention and personalised feedback, big enough to learn from each other and benefit from the group energy.

What makes my sessions different? They're not about cramming vocab lists or getting through content as quickly as possible. It's about building real confidence, identifying and understanding where a student may be stuck, and giving each student clear, actionable feedback so progress can actually be made.

My lessons are built around three key pillars:

  1. Appropriate challenge with targeted support: Students are pushed to aim higher, but always with clear guidance and feedback.
  2. Clear scaffolding to ensure success: Complex grammar, speaking, writing and exam skills are all broken down into manageable steps.
  3. Energetic, engaging and enjoyable lessons: Lessons are carefully planned with variety, pace and active learning, helping students stay motivated while acquiring the language properly.

Ultimately, the distinguishing feature of LinguaLab is that I bring the structure, pace and subject expertise of the classroom into small group online tuition. Every session is carefully planned and exam focused, and are always led by me, a qualified teacher who knows how to stretch students, support them and help them make visible progress.

If you (or your child) need help with French or Spanish please feel free to drop me a message and we can arrange a free, 20-minute introductory video call.

Teaching Experience

I have nearly a decade of experience teaching French and Spanish across state and independent boarding schools in the UK, from KS3 through to A-Level. I have held roles including Head of Spanish and Deputy Head of House, which means I understand not only how to teach languages, but how to build confidence, raise standards and support students academically.

My background gives me a strong understanding of what students need at each stage: how to build strong foundations at KS3, how to prepare effectively for GCSE, and how to develop the accuracy, fluency and sophistication needed at A-Level.

• Taught at two top UK independent boarding schools

• Experience teaching in both state and independent school settings

• Former Head of Spanish and Deputy Head of House

• KS3, GCSE and A-Level specialist

• Strong knowledge of exam board requirements

• Experienced in stretching high achievers and supporting less confident learners

• Structured, feedback-driven lessons every session

This is what makes my approach different. I know how to spot exactly where a student is struggling, explain it clearly and give them the right practice to move forward. At LinguaLab, students are challenged, supported and expected to grow.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons are energetic, challenging and never just going through the motions. I do not want students to simply memorise phrases or copy model answers. I want them to understand how the language works, think in the language and communicate with more confidence and accuracy.

The LinguaLab approach combines high expectations with clear support. Students are encouraged to aim high, but they are also given the tools to get there.

• High energy, high expectations

• Clear explanations and structured practice

• Focus on thinking and communicating in the language

• Real confidence built alongside accuracy

• Exam board-specific preparation

• Small groups capped at 8 students

• Structured OneNote system

• Weekly homework and written feedback

• Sessions via Microsoft Teams

Every LinguaLab student has access to a shared OneNote system, weekly homework and written feedback, so learning does not stop when the lesson ends. Sessions are purposeful, varied and carefully matched to the needs of the group.

What makes my tutoring stand out is the balance: students are pushed, but not overwhelmed; supported, but not spoon-fed; engaged, but always learning with purpose.
