Hi, my name is Dr. Renske Brune, I am 59 years old and I have lived in Edinburgh since 1994. I graduated from Biology at the University of Amsterdam and worked for 7 years in science at the Edinburgh Medical School, during which I attained my PhD. I was a fulltime mum for 8 years after which I went to Art College to qualify as a painter artist. I then become a teacher at Edinburgh Steiner School where scientific subjects are taught hand in hand with art in a very caring and small-scale environment. I have recently stepped back from exam-teaching to focus on completing my studies in Medical Herbalism (I am in year 5 out of 7). I would like to tutor because I miss the contact with and helping young people. My pupils' exam results were uniformly excellent and above average in Scotland, I have also helped many pupils overcome low self-confidence especially in Maths.

I have taught National 5 and Higher Maths, National 5 Biology and Chemistry and Higher Art at the Edinburgh Steiner School, starting in 2012. I have tutored in Maths and Biology privately. I am a GTCS-registered teacher.

I first create an environment where the pupil feels at ease through patience and interpersonal warmth, this is a prerequisite to successful learning. I then teach from the basics to create a firm foundation onto which more complicated concepts can be built. Once skills have become solid, plenty of exam training will solidify learned subjects and instil confidence in the young learner.
