I am an experienced and well-regarded Maths teacher, with nearly 20 years' experience of classroom Maths teaching and tutoring up to Further Maths A level (Pure, Mechanics, and Statistics) and TMUA and beyond. I have a first class MMath degree from Oxford University.

I am a fully qualified (certified 'outstanding') Maths teacher. I taught Maths for 3 years at a prestigious boarding school in Crowthorne, Berkshire. I have just started my 17th year of Maths teaching at a high-achieving Independent Day School in central Oxford, including 7 years as the Deputy Head of Maths. I've tutored at many different levels, from enriching a year 6 pupil to helping at first year undergraduate level (both Maths degree and mathematical elements of other numerate degrees). I'm especially well-placed to help with Maths and Further Maths A Level, TMUA, and UKMT Challenges and Olympiads, including Statistics.

I enjoy helping my pupils to gain deep understanding of the maths and develop problem solving skills. These, I believe, are important for success in maths; blind memory is no substitute. Through dialogue we explore ideas and find out where key ideas can do with more development. Dynamic visual aids often help. I am pragmatic and flexible and enjoy developing good rapport with my tutees. The satisfaction for me when something clicks, and the subsequent increase of mathematical confidence and enjoyment is the main reason why I love my job.
