I am a qualified native teacher of French and Spanish (QTS). My PGCE has enabled me to work in various secondary schools and colleges in England.
I am highly experienced in various exams boards: AQA/ Edexcel/ CIE (GCSE/ IGCSE and A level) and 13+ Common Entrance (ISEB/ Scholarship) . I have a life long interest in linguistics and studied this in depth as part of my English and Spanish degree at the university of Poitiers, as well as the Diploma in Translation.

For adults wishing to learn the language for pleasure or for specific objectives (holiday / re-location /business etc...), I will personalize the lessons to suit your interests.
During my lessons, I focus on speaking in order to quickly improve Listening and Oral skills. I simplify grammar concepts to aid understanding and provide useful memorization tips. In order to increase student's confidence, the first few lessons will be based on assessments and short, achievable exercises, before extending further.
I am often told that am kind and patient- I do believe these are necessary qualities as a tutor to create a trusting relationship with a young person. Progress will happen quickly as I know how to apply recognized language teaching methods.
I have a particular interest in grammar and ensure that clear explanations are followed by independent practice.
I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts.
After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside annotations, which can be kept for future revision. This is accompanied by a personalized report, including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.
