Chelsey

Private Science and Biology Tutor in High Wycombe

Hi, I'm Chelsey a fully qualified Science teacher, tutor and AQA examiner with 13 years of experience. I am patient kind and encouraging and have a passion for engaging students and allowing them to reach their full potential. I have a deep knowledge of the various exam board specifications, test papers and mark schemes for GCSE Science's.

Teaching Experience

I have a 1st Class Honour's degree in Biomedical Science from King's College London, as well as a PGCE in Secondary Science teaching from University College London (UCL). I have also undertaken research for a PhD funded by Diabetes UK into the mechanisms of development of type 1 diabetes.

I have taught in Outstanding Grammar school's in Buckinghamshire for the past 13 years. Along side this I run 1:1 private tutoring sessions to support and enhance children's learning and progress.

I am very experienced with teaching children who have a range of SEN needs and I possess a wide array of teaching strategies to engage learner's with my lessons.

Tutoring Approach

My lessons are fun and structured, yet tailored to each individual child. I quickly build relationships to identify gaps in knowledge and build a clear plan to fill these. This enables your child to feel as confident and well prepared for their exams as possible.

Lessons contain animations, mini plenaries and quiz's to check understanding as well as a clear focus on exam technique. We will often use the second half of the lesson to practise application of knowledge to exam questions. This enables students to get "in the mind" of the examiner so that they are fully prepared for their exams.

Chelsey tutored my son in the year running up to taking his combined science GSCE. He felt quite behind on his studies and each week she helped him progress and build his confidence - he hopes that has moved his results by several grades but without knowing that I saw a huge difference in his interest and effort with Chelsey’s support. Thank you!

I would highly recommend Chelsey as a GCSE Science tutor. She worked with my son in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and made a significant difference to both his understanding of the subjects and his confidence. Chelsey was always reliable and professional. Her lessons were well prepared, engaging and focused on helping him build both knowledge and exam technique. Thanks to her guidance and dedication, my son approached his GCSE Science exams feeling well prepared and far more self-assured than he had at the start. We are extremely grateful for the positive impact she had on his learning and would not hesitate to recommend her to any parent looking for an outstanding science tutor.

Chelsey has been tutoring my son for his GCSE Combined (Dual) Science qualification, and she has been an outstanding tutor. She is well organised, thoroughly prepares for every lesson, and teaches at a pace that perfectly suits his learning style. Since she began tutoring him, his confidence and understanding across all three sciences have improved immeasurably. Her supportive and structured approach has made a real difference, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, patient, reliable and dedicated Science Tutor. In fact, I'm taking my own advice, as Chelsey will soon start tutoring my younger son for his Science GCSEs!

We found Chelsey after my daughter’s Y11 mock exams, and the support she received was incredibly helpful. She were professional, friendly, approachable, and very accommodating, making every session comfortable and productive. My daughter learnt so much and gained confidence in her biology thanks to Chelsey’s clear explanations and patient teaching style. The experience was so positive that we’ve already signed our son up to start sessions from Year 10. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent science tutor who genuinely cares about their students’ progress and success.

Chelsey has been an exemplary tutor and a fantastic support to our son through 3 tough year's of the Science GCSE course. She is polite, organised and really motivated our son to get through his GCSE's providing him with the most up to date resources and revision materials during and after his lessons. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chelsey as a tutor.
