Hello! After doing a maths undergrad at Cambridge, I worked as a software engineer for several years. I now work as a tutor, while pursuing a part-time master's in theoretical physics.

I mainly tutor online, but offer occasional home visits in Yorkshire, depending on transport links. I mainly offer Maths, Further Maths and Physics tuition, but am opening to tutoring Computer Science and general programming skills.

I have 1 year of experience tutoring A-level maths and physics. Before this, I ran programming mentoring sessions as a senior software developer. I have also taught piano.

Besides going over technical content with students, I train them to communicate clearly and back up their ideas rigorously. This translates to good written communication in exams. I encourage students to take responsibility for their studies, drawing on my own experience of studying independently and working in industry.

When taking on a new student, I ask them about their goals (e.g. improving their grade, getting into a specific university). I also recommend occasional meetings with parents to discuss progress. This helps me to guide the student in the right direction and adjust my teaching methods.
