I am an experienced private tutor with both an academic background and professional experience tutoring 1-1 academic support to A Level students.

I have nearly 10 years of private tutor experience, in the subjects of History, Ancient History, English, Classics and Philosophy. I hold a BA in Classics, MA in History, from Royal Holloway University of London, and am a current PhD History student at the University of Glasgow. I am currently employed as an academic Study Skills Officer at a Sixth Form college, and have taught A Level Classical Civilisation.

I have tutored English, History and Ancient History GCSE, A Level Classical Civilisation, English and History. Undergraduate History/Classics, philosophy, theology. As well as general academic skills - essay writing/exam preparation/citation.

In my academic background, I have studied Latin, Ancient Greek, Byzantine Greek, Greek Palaeography, Ancient Philosophy, Medieval Philosophy, Greek and Roman History and Literature, Byzantine History, Religion and Church History. In my BA and MA I specialised in Late Antique History and particularly the roles of religion and warfare in Late Antique society, as well as the 1st-4th crusades. My PhD studies focus on European medieval warfare in the period of 900-1250.

I like to work 1-1 because it places focus on the individual learner and their needs, allowing me to take the time to truly get to know each student, adapting my approach to them uniquely. I believe in coaching students on core study skills, critical thinking, and independent problem-solving so they can build genuine confidence, take ownership of their work, and achieve their full potential.

My style is collaborative, patient, and centred around listening to each student to understand how they think, what approaches work for them, and to discern what areas they need support in.
