I am a former student of Henrietta Barnett School, one of the UK’s top grammar schools and a graduate of King’s College London, a Russell Group university. With over 11 years of tutoring experience, I have guided many students towards success in the 11+, helping them secure places at leading grammar and private schools. My aim is to build confidence and give each student the tools to reach their potential. My lessons follow a “teach, try together, try independently” approach, which helps students to strengthen their knowledge step by step while developing confidence in their abilities. Parents often describe me as supportive and results-driven, while also bringing in a fun element to ensure that students stay enthusiastic about learning. I take the time to understand each student's unique learning style and I adapt my lessons to suit their individual needs. Most of my students begin from Year 4 onwards to build strong foundations in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning ahead of the 11+.

I began tutoring over 11 years ago and have since helped more than 100 students successfully secure places at their dream grammar and independent schools.

Throughout my tutoring career, I have seen the 11+ examination process evolve considerably, from changes in exam formats and question styles to the increasingly competitive nature of school admissions. I make it a priority to stay up to date with the latest entrance exam requirements, syllabus changes and expectations of individual schools, ensuring my students are always well prepared.

Over the years, I have continually refined my teaching methods, adapting my approach to suit each student's individual learning style, strengths and areas for improvement. My extensive experience has given me a strong understanding of what schools are looking for and, more importantly, how to help children achieve their full potential.

My goal has always been to make the 11+ journey as positive, rewarding and successful as possible for both students and their parents.

My lessons are completely tailored to each student's individual ability, learning style and stage of 11+ preparation. I understand that every child is different, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

For students who already have a strong understanding of the core syllabus, my lessons focus heavily on exam paper practice, timing, accuracy and exam technique. We work through past papers and targeted practice questions, carefully marking and reviewing answers together. I place particular emphasis on ensuring students fully understand why they got a question wrong, rather than simply learning the correct answer. We then revisit weaker areas with additional practice until they feel confident tackling similar questions independently.

For students who are at an earlier stage of their preparation or need to strengthen their foundations, I take a more structured, syllabus-based approach. We work through each topic in Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, building understanding from the ground up before progressing to more challenging questions and exam-style practice.

Throughout the process, I continuously assess each student's progress and adapt lessons accordingly, ensuring that time is spent where it will make the greatest difference.

My priority is not simply to get through as many questions as possible, but to ensure every child genuinely understands what they are learning, develops confidence in their abilities and is as well prepared as possible for their entrance examinations.
