I taught for 7 years as at an outstanding secondary school. During this time I taught students from year 7 to year 13 and I taught students with a range of abilities including top set students and students who were resitting their GCSE's. I have also taught students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
I now teach students 1:1, mostly online (KS2 upwards), through private tutoring, as well as tutoring for AimforA, a tutoring company that provides booster tutoring for students over the school holidays.
I was on firsttutors for years and had lots of positive reviews on there but sadly they closed down with no notice and I lost all of these. I am therefore offering the first lesson for free as you have no reviews to check out.
Having a genuine enjoyment of maths and using mathematical concepts at degree level enables me to teach students in a way that gives them a deep understanding of maths as opposed to a surface level understanding. This makes them more likely to remember, and be able to apply this knowledge to a range of situations to solve problems both in school and beyond this.
I am patient and considerate of the fact that some students find maths anxiety provoking and have a track history of supporting students to feel more confident about maths. I use technology to ensure that the online aspect of tutoring is not a barrier. Sharing my iPad screen enables me to write on the screen like you would a piece of paper in front of them, students can also write on this.
