Highly qualified, buzzy and very well experienced teacher and university lecturer of English and German from KS2 to post graduate level - age 1 to 100 welcome, beginners to boffins! Excellent knowledge of KS4 and KS5 exam requirements and results from previous tutees have always exceeded expectations. One-to-one tailored sessions to boost confidence and achievement in a relaxed but pacey environment, with a wealth of resources and tips to support success. Making learning fun whilst ensuring maximum progress is my mission, and I aim to match individual learning styles to my sessions, catering for all ages and abilities. My forte in German is helping you to become increasingly fluent, babbling without inhibition and with grammar sneakily brought in to support your comprehension. Lots of experience of GCSE and A Level English Language and Literature, and umpteen tricks to help students access the higher grades in their NEAs and examinations.

Ive taught German and English for many moons, and have been Head of German and Head of MFL for most of those years. Im very adept at getting pupils and students of all ages to love both German and English and understand the rigors of the languages, the grammar, as well as cultural and topical studies. My results have been excellent and many of my students have chosen German and English as their fields of study at tertiary level. More recently I`ve been working with individuals teaching one-to-one, and enjoy helping them achieve more in these sessions than perhaps ever in a classroom, simply by building confidence, removing stumbling blocks and making them believe they can do it.

Im happy to liaise vis-vis session times to suit individuals. I prefer tutoring from home, simply as I have my multifarious resources to hand and can accommodate more students - plus I have nice teas /coffees for parents waiting in the sitting room, as well as for tutees! Teams or Zoom works very well online for English GCSE and A level, plus German GCSE and A Level as well as casual language learning. It works well with translation tasks, reading comprehension, speaking role plays, picture based discussions and general conversation. Happy to liaise as to when and how! Ive also taught undergraduate modules via zoom, which worked very well screen sharing and with breakout rooms.
