I have taught German and English for many moons, and have been Head of Department for over 25 years. I am adept at inspiring a love of both English and German in pupils and students of all ages, and am highly skilled at helping overcome any stumbling blocks to achieving, focusing on grammar, cultural studies and topical issues. Results have been consistently beyond expectation, and many of my students have chosen to study German and English at tertiary level. Providing one-to-one tuition both online and from home, I tailor each session to individual needs and interests, supported by a plethora of resources to engage and motivate. My forte is helping all abilities to achieve more in these sessions than they ever could in a classroom, simply by building confidence, removing obstacles and convincing them that yes, of course they can succeed! I am also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Association, and as such can advise and support students with their personal statements in preparation for university.
Tutoring Approach
I prefer tutoring from home, simply as I have my multifarious resources to hand and can accommodate more students -Teams or works very well online for English GCSE and A level, plus German GCSE and A Level as well as casual language learning. I tailor resources to support individual learning styles and play to their strengths, with translation tasks, reading comprehensions, general conversation, and essay planning as foci. I'm happy to liaise as to when and how.
