My passion for teaching is underpinned by my love of performing. I am a flautist and woodwind musician with years of experience in teaching across all ages and abilities, including students who want to take music exams and adults who want to play for enjoyment.

I am a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and The University of Manchester and my playing career includes orchestral concerts working with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Mark Wrigglesworth and Alice Farnham, classical recitals on Fred Olsen and P&O cruise lines, as well as pit-band work on commercial musical theatre tours. I have experience in different genres of music across all woodwind instruments.

My lessons are constructive, engaging and light-hearted. I always emphasise the individual merits of each student, whilst helping them to understand the practical elements that would further enhance their playing. As examinations are often daunting to take for the first time, I always walk my students through the procedure and emphasise the enjoyment of showcasing their musicianship, rather than the worries of being assessed.
