Josh tutored my son for A level English and was exceptional - his calm, supportive approach rebuilt my son's confidence and helped him perform at his best by the time the exams came around. My son really enjoyed the sessions as well as developing his skills and understanding over the course of the year. Josh helped him to master 'close reading' of texts, how to articulate an argument both orally and in writing and enabled him to secure the grade he needed to meet his university offer (Cambridge). Josh would share resources on the online classroom page for my son to think about between sessions, suggested reading material beyond the syllabus to support exploration of the set texts and went above and beyond, even reading a book which my son decided to read so that they could then discuss it together. Josh was organised, reliable, quick to respond to my initial enquiry and his sessions were great value for money. Highly recommended!

Josh was very helpful as a tutor for my English A-Level as he improved my wider knowledge of the literature that I was studying with extremely helpful insights on context and criticism which I had previously struggled with. The sessions together were enlightening on the texts and I was able to understand it in a way that my classes at school may not have given me, and this different perspective added nuance to my essay writing. His marking and feedback on the essays I sent in were incredibly useful, and going through it together in sessions helped me solidify my knowledge and improve. The essay plans on past questions were also very helpful for my confidence ahead of the exams as I had some great quotes from critics and the texts as well as useful context that I felt as though I could skilfully use in the exam.
