Hello! My name is Kirsteen and I have been a primary teacher since 2013. . I am passionate about getting children motivated and engaged in their learning, particularly Literacy and Numeracy as these are the building blocks for everything else.

I have worked across all stages of primary school, as well as 3 years of experience with 3-5 year old learners in Nursery. Alongside my role in the classroom, I have also been involved in improvement based science models focused on Early/ First Level Literacy and Numeracy which have achieved fantastic results, with learners regularly making big improvements. I also have hundreds of hours of tutoring experience, working with learners on a 1:1 basis to fill gaps in their knowledge and build solid foundations.

Initially, after discussion with parent(s) about potential areas to work on, I like to complete some game-style assessments to get a good overview of any gaps. After this I will make a plan of what we will cover which I will share with parents. I use a variety of resources and teaching styles to ensure children find learning enjoyable and engaging. I provide on-going feedback to parents and depending on needs, can provide work to complete between sessions.
