Arushi

I am a Neuroscience student at the University of Warwick, with a strong foundation in biology, mathematics, and data-driven problem solving. I have a passion for science and maths, which helps me explain complex concepts clearly and logically.

I am interested in the intersection of neuroscience and AI, aiming for a career as a computational neuroscientist. My goal is not only to improve grades but to help students build understanding, confidence, and independence in their learning.

Teaching Experience

I have delivered over 100 hours of one-to-one tutoring, supporting students across KS3, GCSE, and A Level in Maths and Science. I adapt my teaching to individual learning styles, breaking down difficult topics into manageable steps, using targeted practice, and emphasising problem-solving, exam technique, and active recall.

Tutoring Approach

Lessons will be structured around clear learning objectives tailored to each student’s level and goals. I will begin by assessing their current understanding through diagnostic questions, then create a personalised plan that builds core concepts before progressing to more complex topics. Each lesson will follow a consistent format: review of prior learning, introduction of new material, guided practice, and independent application.

Preparation will involve selecting high-quality resources, exam-style questions, and adapting explanations to suit the student’s learning style. For subjects like maths and science, I will emphasise problem-solving techniques and exam strategies alongside conceptual understanding.

Delivery will be interactive and supportive, encouraging students to ask questions and think critically rather than passively receive information. I will break down difficult topics into manageable steps and use real examples to reinforce understanding.

To help students achieve their goals, I will set short-term targets and regularly revisit them. Progress will be measured through quizzes, past paper questions, and tracking improvements in accuracy, confidence, and speed over time.

I believe consistency, clear feedback, and building confidence are key to effective learning. Creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes is essential for long-term success.

Be aware of the following condition when thinking of working with this tutor. I was not made aware until after I released their details and I believe such vital information should be shared before payment is made by tutees to release details. "late arrivals (over 15 minutes past the start time) will be counted as completed and will not be refunded or rescheduled." I think it is wrong that if a tutee pays for an hour and for some reason joins 20 minutes late, according to this tutor's terms, they will not NOT be entitled to the remaining 40 minutes even though it has been paid for. There's more to the terms and conditions but the part I quoted above is what I disagree with. There may be more you disagree with. All the best.

Tutor response

These terms are standard practice across most tutoring platforms, independent tutors and many other services like therapy and coaching, and are shared clearly to set expectations from the outset, not to disadvantage students. My goal is always to provide structured, high-quality support in a professional and fair way for every family I work with. In addition, these policies are readily available on my profile so it is the clients duty to check everything available on the profile before proceeding. I have had several other clients and none of them have seemed to object and have been tutoring them for several months, some of them even recommended me to their friends or asked me to tutor their other children. My late arrival policy is not intended to penalise anyone, but to protect scheduled lesson time and ensure fairness for all students. When a lesson is booked, that time slot is reserved exclusively in advance, and I often have lessons scheduled back-to-back, which means extending sessions is usually not possible without impacting others. In addition, it DOESN'T say I won't complete the lesson, it says it will be marked completed regardless of what time the student joins: 'Missed lessons or late arrivals (over 15 minutes past the start time) will be counted as completed and will not be refunded or rescheduled.' followed by 'If you are late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time.'. I also fully understand that genuine emergencies happen, and in those situations I have always been flexible and happy to make exceptions where appropriate. Even rearranged lessons completely for them. The policy mainly exists to prevent repeated or avoidable lateness and to encourage punctuality, which helps lessons run smoothly and ensures everyone’s time is respected because it is simply unacceptable to let your tutor waiting and not let them know you will be late for a said reason. In practice, arriving on time is the simplest way to make sure you receive the full value of the session you’ve booked. I am always happy to be reasonable and work things out where I can — for example, I reduced my usual £20 hourly rate to £17.50 to accommodate you. Thank you for your feedback, and I wish you all the best moving forward.
