こんにちは! I was born in Tokyo and graduated from Toyo University in Japan. I taught English for 3 years in Japan and for over 10 years I have been teaching Japanese in the UK.

I have taught students aged 10 to over 60, from absolute beginners to intermediate and advanced levels.

As a teacher I like to encourage students to enjoy the language they're learning and be interested in the country/culture, and most importantly to get you speaking and reading and understanding Japanese as soon as possible.

I've been teaching Japanese since 2015 and I've taught both person to person and online, however, I currently offer online lessons only.

In addition to textbook based lessons, I have also helped basic travel focussed Japanese, or with university assignments, or prepare presentations or translation for advanced level students.

I have also taught English for 3 years to primary and secondary school students in Japan according to the national curriculum. And 1 year teaching English to Japanese nursery school children using home made games, cards and songs.

I offer a free trial lesson to make sure we both are happy with the arrangement before we start paid lessons.

Lessons are on Discord and I use Discord to share travel photos, memes and learning tips with all my students in a private server I created.

My default lesson structure is to begin with a warm up questions from past lessons, then move on to new grammar study using Genki textbook series. Finally, we do activities such as reading NHK simple news, or shadowing or listening exercises from Japanese YouTube.

However, I'm happy to adapt to individual needs. For example, some students prefer 30 mins pure conversation practice + 1 hour textbook exercises each week.

For each student, I maintain a personal shared lesson document for new words, phrases and homework to add new content every lesson for practice and revision.
