I have been teaching for 25+ years, in Spain and UK mainly. I have prepared the secondary school pupils for the GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, the European Baccalaureate and university. I have taught in businesses, after school clubs and still teach for the Alliance Française. I tutor primary, secondary and university students from 5/6 years old, one to one tuition or small groups. I teach adults who want to learn French for leisure or professional reasons.
I will make sure that for the exams you are prepared for the four skills, reading, writing, listening and speaking and we will cover all the requirements for your subject and level, but tailored to your own specific needs. I will also teach you the skills to understand a text or an audio extract using the grammar and inferring the meanings according to the context. Grammar has become an important aspect of language learning in secondary schools and I will make sure that this is covered as well. For the adult, I generally use methods that are created by native linguist and follow a rigorous progression, which allow the student to go back home with all the material to revise and do exercises. I will also add other documents when needed. The lessons for the children are fun, but there is also a real learning process, that goes beyond presentations and the knowledge of the colours. For all the levels I use a good number of platforms with interactive exercices, games, videos etc. Google Doc and BitPaper, an interactive whiteboard.

I never went forward with the lessons, because the Zoom-platform didn’t work for me. That being said, I really liked Marie so much and would to love work with her. If I lived near, I would absolutely work one one with Marie. She has a lovely manner and is very patient. If you decide to use Marie you won’t be disappointed.
Marie is a very patient and approachable person. It was my first lesson and I was a little nervous, but Marie put me at ease very quickly. Marie is a great tutor, she is very helpful, has lots of ideas and a flexible approach, and replies promptly to any questions. The online lessons include lots of different activities, games and songs. My young daughter has settled into her regular lessons quickly, Marie is giving her the confidence to speak more in French, and Marie is kind enough to let my daughter’s cuddly toys join in the French lessons too! I have had 4 lessons with Marie and I am very happy with her as my French tutor. As my level is basic / lower intermediate she choses the exercises which suite my level. Marie is always patient and calm so I don't need to feel unnecessary pressure or embarassement at all. When she speaks in French Marie chooses vocablary and expressions that are not too complicated but help to enhance my listening skills. I would highly recommend Marie as your first French tutor.

Marie has tutored my son for a year for GCSE which he wasn't able to study at school. All his lessons were with Marie. My son enjoyed his lessons and Marie and did a really excellent job preparing my him for the exam and he achieved a very high result and we will now be applying for a french scholarship for A Level at his school. I can't recommend Marie enough.
Marie understands very well what I am looking for in the lessons in terms of speaking French regularly - with confidence and with as few errors as possible. She has the ability and knowledge to explain things clearly in a technical way. She has a wide range of interests and responds actively to what I choose to talk about. I enjoy the lessons and, although I don't have much spare time to do structutred homework, I find myself almost thinking in French as I prepare what I am going to talk about in the next lesson.
