Minna

Minna

I am a highly experienced primary school teacher with 26 years of experience. I hold a Psychology degree and completed my Postgraduate Certificate in Education, specialising in English, at St Martin's College. I have taught across all primary year groups from Reception to Year 6 and have many years of tutoring experience, mainly through First Tutors. I am passionate about supporting children’s learning and confidence, and I pride myself on being kind, flexible, and committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience

I have dedicated 26 years to primary education and have gained extensive experience teaching across all primary year groups, from Reception to Year 6. Over the years, I have developed a strong understanding of child development, learning styles and the importance of creating a nurturing learning environment where every child can thrive. I currently teach at Fairlop Primary School and have a thorough knowledge of the National Curriculum across all core and foundation subjects. My experience includes planning and delivering lessons tailored to meet the needs of mixed-ability learners, ensuring that all children are supported and challenged appropriately. I have extensive experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and understand the importance of adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs. I pride myself on building strong relationships with pupils to help them develop confidence, independence and a positive attitude towards learning.

In addition to my classroom teaching, I have significant experience delivering intervention and booster sessions for Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, helping to raise attainment and prepare children successfully for SATs. I am highly experienced in phonics teaching and phonics screening preparation, particularly in the early years and Key Stage 1 and have supported many children in developing strong reading and communication skills. Alongside my school teaching, I have worked as a private tutor for several years. This has allowed me to provide personalised one-to-one support, helping children strengthen areas of difficulty while also building their confidence and enjoyment of learning. I regularly set homework and provide constructive feedback to ensure continued progress outside of lessons.

Throughout my career, I have worked closely with parents and carers, recognising the importance of strong home-school communication. I am approachable, open-minded and I value working collaboratively with families to achieve the best outcomes for each child. One of the aspects of teaching I am most proud of is the positive difference I have made to many children’s educational journeys over the years. Supporting children to grow academically and emotionally has been incredibly rewarding and I remain truly grateful for my career in education.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is centred around creating a positive, supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to succeed. I strongly believe that all children learn differently, so I adapt my teaching methods to suit each child’s individual needs, abilities and learning style.

I aim to make lessons engaging, interactive and enjoyable while maintaining high expectations for progress and behaviour. Building confidence is extremely important to me, as I believe children achieve their best when they feel secure and motivated in their learning. I place great importance on developing strong relationships with both pupils and parents. Good communication and teamwork between home and school are essential in helping children make the best possible progress. I also understand the pressures of family life and always try to be flexible, approachable and supportive.

With my extensive experience across the primary curriculum, including SATs preparation, phonics and SEND support, I am able to tailor lessons carefully to help children overcome challenges to reach their full potential.

Above all, I teach with kindness, patience, encouragement and always strive to make a meaningful and lasting difference in every child’s learning journey...
