My name is Heeyoung Park, and I am a qualified Korean language teacher with many years of experience teaching Korean as a foreign language. I hold a master's degree from the UK and a teaching certificate in Korean as a second language.

I genuinely enjoy helping people learn Korean and discovering the connections between language and culture with my students. I am approachable, friendly, and a good listener, and I always try to create a relaxed and comfortable learning environment.

I love K-dramas and K-pop, so if you're interested in Korean popular culture, I can also recommend some great dramas, movies, and songs! I have also lived in Japan and speak Japanese, so if you're interested in both Korean and Japanese, we can explore the similarities and differences between the two languages and cultures.

I have been teaching Korean as a foreign language since 2009, working with students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and at different levels of proficiency.

2009–2013 — Taught Korean to exchange students preparing to study in Korea at Gifu University, Japan

2010–2011 — Taught Korean culture and basic Korean expressions to people with disabilities at NICE NGO, Japan

2013–2014 — Taught Korean to members of multicultural families at a Multicultural Family Support Center in Korea

2015–2017 — Taught Korean language and culture to university students at Middlesex University, UK

2016–2025 — Taught Korean online to students from around the world through First Tutors

2025-2026 — Taught Korean language and culture to university students at the National University of Colombia

Through these experiences, I have taught learners from many different countries and backgrounds, from complete beginners to more advanced students. This has helped me develop a flexible teaching style that can be adapted to each student's goals, learning style, and level.

I can help you develop all four Korean language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Whether you are a complete beginner learning Hangul for the first time or an advanced learner looking to improve your fluency, I will tailor our lessons to your level and goals.

For beginners, I can help you learn Hangul and build a strong foundation in Korean grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and everyday expressions. As you progress, we can work on more complex sentences, natural conversation, and Korean expressions used in real-life situations.

I also like to make lessons interactive and enjoyable. We can use role-plays, conversation activities, and a variety of learning materials based on your interests. If you're preparing for the TOPIK, I can also help you prepare for the listening, vocabulary, reading, and writing sections of the test.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable speaking Korean and making mistakes. I will adapt our lessons to your individual needs and help you build your confidence step by step.
