Hello, I'm Linda. I have over 25 years' experience tutoring English in school settings and privately. For me, it is a joy to work with books, stories, plays, poems and I hope a little of this crosses over to my students, and though comprehension can be challenging, I firmly believe that the more you understand, the more enjoyable reading will become for you too. I began my working life as a journalist, and have just completed an MA in Creative Writing so I bring that deep knowledge of 'how to' write stories, articles, speeches and letters, along with 25 years' experience tutoring English to the exam curriculum.

I have over 25 years' experience tutoring with schools in their special needs departments, alternative provision centres, and high achieving sets in grammar schools. While tutoring privately, I have had a lot of successes, including taking students from the lower grades to a grade 9 though that depends equally on the student. I am a current GCSE English examiner which means I am completely up-to-date on the requirements of best ways to pick up marks on the exam paper. I have worked as an entrance exam tutor and for the 11+ where I can teach all subjects (including Maths and non-VR).

I love to work with people who aim for the top grades, but I also find it so rewarding to help people who are struggling to get a pass grade. I adapt for special needs and I don't give up on a person easily.
