Vied

Private Biology and English Tutor in Milton Keynes

I currently have:

4 x places available for GCSE English Language and Literature

2 x A-level Psychology

2 x Maths and Science

I’m a English and Psychology lecturer, examiner‑level marker, and specialist SEND/SEMH tutor based in Milton Keynes - I can work online too. I help students move from low confidence and uncertain grades to clear, structured success in exams — often improving by 2–3 grades. I pride myself on building strong, positive relationships with my students — many of whom stay with me for years.

My background in Psychology and Criminal Behaviour, alongside a PGCE in Secondary Education, shapes the way I understand how young people think, learn, and respond to challenge. This allows me to identify barriers quickly — whether cognitive, emotional, or confidence‑based — and build tailored strategies that help students feel capable, motivated, and in control of their progress.

As an examiner‑level tutor, I teach students exactly how marks are awarded and how to write with clarity, precision, and purpose. My sessions are structured, supportive, and grounded in evidence‑based practice, helping learners move from uncertainty to confidence and from predicted grades to the results they deserve.

As a SEND/SEMH specialist, I work extensively with students who benefit from additional scaffolding, emotional regulation strategies, or alternative approaches to processing information. My teaching is inclusive, patient, and centred on building trust — because students learn best when they feel safe, understood, and genuinely valued.

Parents receive transparent communication, regular progress updates, and a clear roadmap of what we’re working on and why. Whether your child needs grade‑boosting exam preparation, targeted SEND support, or a mentor who truly “gets” them, I provide tuition that is structured, empowering, and tailored to the individual.

I offer a free initial consultation to understand your child’s needs and create a personalised learning plan.

Teaching Experience

I have extensive experience teaching English across mainstream, further education, and specialist SEND/SEMH settings, working with learners from KS3 through to A‑Level. As a Senior English Lecturer, I have delivered GCSE English Language and Literature, Functional Skills, and academic writing programmes, supporting a wide range of learners including high‑achieving students, reluctant writers, and those with complex learning profiles.

My background includes examiner‑level marking, which has shaped my ability to teach with precision and clarity. I use this insight to help students understand exactly how examiners think, how marks are awarded, and how to structure responses that meet assessment objectives with confidence.

Alongside mainstream teaching, I have a strong track record supporting SEND and SEMH learners, including students with ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, processing difficulties, and anxiety‑related barriers. I specialise in breaking down complex tasks, modelling cognitive strategies, and creating a calm, structured environment where students feel safe to learn and capable of succeeding.

Across all roles, my teaching has been rooted in evidence‑based practice, relational support, and high expectations. I work closely with students to build independence, resilience, and academic skill — ensuring they not only improve their grades but also understand themselves as learners.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is grounded in over a decade of professional teaching and examiner‑level experience. Since 2015, I have delivered highly structured, evidence‑based lessons designed to build confidence, strengthen subject knowledge, and produce measurable academic progress. Every session is purposeful, calm, and tailored to the individual learner.

I combine examiner insight, cognitive psychology, and SEND‑informed practice to teach students not just what to do, but how to think. This means modelling high‑quality responses, breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps, and teaching the underlying processes that lead to independent, resilient learning.

For mainstream learners, this approach accelerates attainment and sharpens exam performance. For SEND/SEMH students, it provides the scaffolding, emotional regulation strategies, and relational support needed to reduce anxiety and unlock genuine academic growth.

Each lesson follows a clear structure: targeted teaching, guided practice, independent application, and precise feedback. Students leave sessions knowing exactly what they have achieved, what their next steps are, and how to apply new skills with confidence.

My goal is simple: to help every learner feel capable, motivated, and academically secure — not just for their next exam, but for the long term.

I have been tutored for A-level AQA English Literature B (Tragedy/Crime). Full professionalism, with everything clearly and patiently explained. Whenever I felt lost, I wasn’t made to feel like I wasn’t smart enough, though in the opposite, I was encouraged to go through with the problem and try to solve it. My english vocabulary and exam skill has improved throughout the few months

It has been an absolute pleasure teaching you — you should be really proud of yourself. Moving from Poland and adapting to a new education system is no small achievement, and you’ve done remarkably well. You were already a high achiever; I simply helped guide you with the right tools. I’m really looking forward to hearing your results. Wishing you all the very best of luck at university!

Throughout my time with Vied, she was always very supportive and encouraging. Whenever I felt unmotivated or doubted myself, she reminded me to keep working towards my goals. When I first started lessons with her, I was only just getting a Grade 4 in English Literature and English Language. After getting similar grades for a long time, I had started to think that was the best I could do. However, with Vied’s help and feedback, my grades slowly improved from a 4 to a 5, and then to a 6. One of the main things holding me back was my essay structure. Vied helped me understand where I was going wrong and worked with me to improve it. Over time, my essays became much concise and easier to follow. Even when my teachers were predicting me a Grade 4, Vied believed I could do better. Thanks to her support and guidance, I achieved a Grade 6 in both English Literature and English Language at GCSE. I would definitely recommend Vied to anyone looking for a tutor who is motivating, empathetic, and willing to help students improve and reach their potential.

I met Vied when I re-entered education at the age of 30, and I cannot stress enough how having a teacher like her would have improved my education had she taught me during my time at secondary school. She’s honestly one in a million. Her hard work and devotion to her students’ learning are, in my opinion, second to none. I’m not the easiest person to teach.. I have ADHD and dyslexia, but Vied made sure I was still able to succeed nonetheless.
