Matthew

"… a highly experienced musician, tutor & multi-instrumentalist… "

As a professional musician & multi-instrumentalist who has been performing live for over 2 decades years in various successful original & cover bands, I've gained experience in many musical fields. Including composing, performing, recording & producing music with The Sub Rosas, I have spent time with bands in rehearsal & recording studios using industry standard equipment & processes while serving more of an engineer & producer role.

I own and run a mobile recording service for bands and artists to give an alternative solution to expensive studio recording. We travel to rehearsal or recording space with our own quality gear, record your session, mix your music and deliver a final mix, all for an affordable price.

I am currently in a Beatles tribute as George Harrison and play live shows around London on a regular basis.

Acting as a session player for bands has encouraged me to become a more rounded musician, a more confident performer & a more tasteful & creative player, playing to compliment each individual song. This has led to being booked to play at some prestigious venues including The Cavern Club (Liverpool), Dingwalls (Camden, London), Fairfield Halls (Croydon, London), Old Trafford (Manchester, Lancashire) & The Trump Tower (Istanbul, Turkey). Having a residency with Young's & Co. Brewery has contributed a lot & allowed me to perform in front of thousands of new faces over the years. A highlight has been working with record producer Charlie Hugall (Florence & The Machine/Ed Sheeran/Kaiser Chiefs) at The Dairy Studios in Brixton while playing guitar for the No More Navigators & performing with Matthew Jure A.K.A Day V Lately who are signed to record label Tactal Hots Music.

Teaching Experience

“…a very reliable & responsive teacher… "

I have been a private music tutor for the past 15 years. Specialising in Guitar, both electric & acoustic, as well as the Ukulele & traveling all over the London, Surrey & Kent areas. Working with individuals & group sessions, I have a gained a great deal of experience teaching people of all age groups & ability levels, specifically at Kemnal Technology College, Sidcup, Kent, while I was the school's in-house Guitar tutor.

I take a lot of enjoyment from playing music & I am always enthusiastic about teaching my students how to have fun as well as to improve their playing.

I have worked as a music tutor and a recording studio engineer for studios in London, teaching young people how to work within the music industry and the studio environment. I planned and ran music workshops in the studio and in Young Offenders Institutions around London. The idea of the workshops was to help young people express their thoughts and feelings through music. Participants would learn different ways of making music from songwriting to music recording studio skills and creating music tracks.

Tutoring Approach

“… friendly, encouraging & skilled, always prompt & generous with his time…”

My approach to lessons is always relaxed & informal. Lesson topics are normally directed towards your own personal areas of interest, with an emphasis on teaching you practical applications of the techniques you learn, since the goal is to learn to play music, understand it & hopefully, have fun at the same time.

As well as teaching instruments, it is my intention to give all of my students a greater understanding of how music works, & therefore a greater appreciation for it.

To coincide with lessons, I also keep a record of your progress so that together we can work towards improving your playing & not using lesson time just for practice.

Many students feel that a weekly lesson arrangement does aid them to keep focused & progress steadily, although it is not necessarily essential. Whereas children will often benefit from frequent weekly rather than fortnightly lessons since the structure & constant support of these sessions help keep them on track.
